HBP: “Yes, it is easy to see that nearly six years of magical education have not been wasted on you, Potter. Ghosts are transparent.”
DH: “Would you like me to do it now? Or would you like a few moments to compose an epitaph?”
DRAW – OOTP: “Potter, when I want nonsense shouted at me I shall give you a Babbling Beverage. And Crabbe, loosen your hold a little. If Longbottom suffocates it will mean a lot of tedious paperwork and I am afraid I shall have to mention it on your reference if ever you apply for a job.” & COS: “Or maybe,” said a very cold voice right behind them, “he’s waiting to hear why you two didn’t arrive on the school train.”

The Harry Potter series may be named after the Boy Who Lived, but if you want to know the story, keep your eyes fixed on Severus Snape. This hook-nosed, greasy-haired, grumpy character is one of J.K. Rowling’s enduring gifts to English literature. He’s the archetypal ill-tempered teacher: acerbic, yet horribly, deliciously funny. When he’s in a scene, you can’t take your eyes off him. Snape is always the story. – From the Introduction In this examination of J.K. Rowling’s most enigmatic character, Lorrie Kim shows us how to sort through the illusions and lies to the man who dared to spy on Voldemort and without whom, Harry’s story would have turned out very differently. In his final moments, he asks Harry (and the reader) to “Look at me.” This book does just that.

Severus Snape, an eager new Death Eater, has a mission: to gain access to the information stored in the Department of Mysteries by befriending their new recruit, Persephone Payne. But what Severus doesn’t know is that Persephone, too, has been given a mission: to befriend him and find out more about the Death Eaters.
This is a prequel to my main fic, Soul of Ice – you can probably read this without reading it but it’s better if you do
This is formatted as a series of one-shots exploring the early years of Severus and Persephone’s friendship as they use one another and fall in love along the way. They will be varying in length and non-chronological.
Liz wants to rock and roll, and the mid-90s might have been the perfect time to do it. Her mother had other plans, mysterious and dangerous and glorious. Pureblood etiquette, elemental magic, and dubcon SMUT meet in this slow-burn that follows alongside HBP and DH canon. The Dark Lord *IS* the Black Hole Sun. Won’t you come? 😉

Snape is jealous when a Malfoy party leads him to think you could do better than him, so you kiss all the parts you know he’s insecure about. Probably my most popular Snape x Reader
Severus Snape never expected to survive the war, much less fall in love. Now, an alive and thoroughly baffled Snape finds himself making a new start on the Isle of Man, with the woman who has changed his life in a thousand small ways. But nothing ever comes easy for Snape, and the ghosts of his past, an underground cult of former Death Eaters, and a certain trainee Auror will conspire to throw him off balance.
But all of that will pale in comparison to the biggest challenge of all: learning how not to be alone.
After the fall of Voldemort, can the Wizarding world move on from centuries of lingering prejudices? All Hermione Granger, “heroine” and part-time agitator knows is, she is done.

Remus Lupin has an outrageous habit of slicing up novels and only keeping the parts he likes. (The present author, following his lead, has written him a happier ending.)
An introspective, retrospective view of Remus Lupin and Severus Snape as they gradually pull into one another’s orbits.
Harriet Potter has always been odd. Between having a shadow that moves on its own and chatting with grass snakes, learning she’s a witch really isn’t the strangest thing to happen to the bespectacled girl with a lightning scar on her neck.
Harriet attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where she makes new friends, encounters a prickly Potions Master, learns about the Boy Who Lived, and meets the enigmatic Defense Against the Dark Arts instructor, Professor Tom Slytherin.
Harry’s break from the Auror duties ends with him taking care of Hogwarts’ grounds. A message from Severus Snape finds him tending to the crops by his cabin. Where would such an unusual set of instructions lead them both, and what does the odd sprout found amid Hagrid’s old pumpkin patch have to do with it?
It’s the first Winter Solstice after the war, and there’s more than one Scrooge spoiling the festive atmosphere. Yup, it’s a Christmas Carol parody fic, because one can never have too many, right
An annoying event causes Hermione to choose to spend the Christmas break in seventh year away from her best friends, but Dumbledore feels she needs someone to watch over her. How will Hermione react to the appearance of the Potions master on her doorstep—and how will they interact when cooped up alone together for days on end?

When she returns to Hogwarts to finish her education, Hermione apprentices with Slughorn, but Snape is teaching her the most valuable lessons. After she’s dosed with a love potion, they both face hard choices and the limits of magic. No matter what happens, at least they have Fridays.

Hermione Granger, employee of the Magical Entity Rights Commission has travelled to Azkaban to review rumours of prisoner mistreatment. During her visit, she stumbles across someone that she was pretty sure was dead when she attended their funeral.
A restricted spell goes awry, and Severus Snape is left scrambling to cover his tracks. Meanwhile, Argus Filch turns out to be surprisingly good with small children, the nature of time is proven to be fiddly and anyone’s guess, and (at least one) Severus gets a second chance at life.
A somewhat Nietzschean twist on Snape/Hermione. The Potions Master and his best student find themselves entering into a partnership that neither of them could have expected, courtesy of Lucius Malfoy

Living in Muggle London, hiding in plain sight, Hermione Bennett, as she is now known, finds herself out with friends one night. The ghosts of her past continue to haunt her when she sets eyes on someone impossible. Someone who is supposed to be dead
Ever since the horcrux in his head is gone, Legilimency comes easy to Harry. It’s nearly laughable how easy it is, considering how much he used to struggle with it back in his fifth year. But he reckons half of that had been Snape’s fault anyway. But as life as Harry has known it changes, Harry’s opinion on the matter changes with it ― rather drastically so if he’s being perfectly honest
For all Severus is softer, warmer with Harry than he is otherwise, he’s still a prickly bugger and notably maladjusted, with strange, almost inexplicable habits that Harry is only now beginning to truly understand
Slughorn pursues Snape. An account of the burgeoning relationship between two Slytherins on the background of the events of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Sex is not the main focus, but it deals with a sexually experienced Severus who is simultaneously not used to emotional closeness which seems to be one headcanon that spans various ships

Okay so I’m a seamstress in real life and I have written one longer fic (unpublished) where my self insert works at Madam Malkin’s robe shop. This is a short one based on that premise. I wanted to capture how as a seamstress I relate to his little details.
The note read simply “My Office. Immediately after dinner.” On Monday Professor Snape saved me from falling off a moving staircase. Sparks shot out of our hands where our skin made contact as he pulled me to safety. Over the course of the week I have become obsessed…
Her pale skin and silky blonde hair was incandescent in the afternoon sun, making it look like spun gold. Severus wondered what it would be like if that sunlight were to kiss his skin as well.
Waking up in bed beside a woman he is entirely too familiar with, Severus wonders why his life can’t ever just be simple. It isn’t until he is forced to deal with the fallout from his choices a week later, he realizes complicated may not be such a bad thing after all.
Her eyes fix firmly on him, unnerving him with how crystal clear they are. She blinks slowly, her mouth curving up into a small, Mona Lisa smile. He wonders for a moment what is going on in her head, but casts it aside almost as quickly. It matters not what she thinks or feels, just so long as she arrives safely on the other side.
After the war, all Severus wanted to do was live out his miserable existence in peace. But it seemed fate was not on his side, and things in his life were not at all destined to be peaceful or easy.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” The quiet voice at his side startled Severus, who came to alertness in an instant, his eyes snapping open. There, in the middle of the bloody desert, far away from the country he had fled several years before, stood Luna Lovegood.
During the night of Dumbledore’s death, Luna Lovegood wanders around the castle halls with a broken heart, then stumbling upon a friend and her pretty necklace where it leads her to borrow it. What happens if the Time-Turner takes Luna Lovegood back to 1977 and is to stay there for the whole year? Even so, she makes sure not to draw awareness. And yet, a certain young boy with raven hair seems to look at her with anything but resentment. Somewhere close to… Awe.
Severus Snape is frustrated that another weekend is to begin. His boss advises him to calm himself down with a bit of walking. However, on that late afternoon, he sees a girl with pale blonde locks that stood near the borders of that bridge. He says he won’t bother her after what happened, that fate has already set what was ahead of them, and he didn’t want to stick around to witness it again. But something was different in the air and with her. And her sudden determination scares him.
Strange things are turning up at the Shrieking Shack, which may actually be haunted after all. Years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Luna Lovegood investigates.
Of all people to be sitting vigil at his bedside, why this one? Although anyone else would have perhaps been equally curious. Severus Snape had not planned to survive, yet here he was, but why was she here? After all he had done to her and all she had suffered, why was Luna Lovegood here now? “Even when all choices are terrible choices, we can still make the best of them.”
Or “Touched”. Severus never expected to survive Voldemort. Now, he must learn to cope with life after the war … with a little help from none other than Loony Lovegood. A story of healing, friendship, and magic. (the rape/non-con and underage tags are NOT in reference to the Severus/Luna relationship. just to be clear. Theirs is a fairly platonic relationship).
“I want to help.” Slowly he turns, baffled. “You want to help me what, Miss. Lovegood?” “I want to help you brew.” “I don’t need your help,” he sneers. She smiles, “I know you don’t need it, I only want to give it.”
Severus Snape has his emotions in check. He knows that he experiences anger and self-loathing and a bitter yearning, and that he rarely deviates from that spectrum… Until first-year Luna Lovegood arrives to his class wearing a wreath of baby’s breath. Over the next six years, an odd friendship grows between the two, and Snape is not sure how he feels about any of it.
Luna Lovegood has always seen things differently; including the surly Professor Snape. Will Luna’s kindness be enough to win over the dark, misunderstood professor?
It is not the most similar people who should form inexorable bonds; they are too alike, they do not need more of their own reasoning and heart. Opposite souls wind together and complete each other, each giving what the other lacks.
A short-lived series of private lessons took place after Christmas in Harry Potter’s fifth school year, during which Severus Snape attempted to teach Harry the skill of Occlumency. The lessons were ultimately cancelled when Harry was caught prying into Snape’s memories, discovering the strangest things: A mysterious prophecy connected Harry’s fate with Voldemort’s, Harry’s dad was an insufferable bully, and Severus Snape had been in love with Harry’s mum. Naturally, Harry now has a million questions. Snape would prefer to answer none.
Severus Snape has been in prison for the past six years, but it’s not what you think—life in Azkaban is never boring. Yaxley’s atrocious gang is on the rampage (again), the canteen’s newspapers are absolutely scandalous, kitchen duty pays well, and smuggling in potions from time to time grants Severus protection and free tobacco.
After seven years in Azkaban, Severus is finally free. Unemployed and homeless in a world that has moved on without him, he has no other choice but to try and rebuild his life from the ground up. In the process, he will have to endure: a cursed apartment that breaks its own furniture for fun, a remarkably round owl called Britney Spears, and Harry Potter, who is obsessed with a potion that does not exist and has a soft spot for floral patterns and nail polish.
After barely surviving Nagini’s bite, Snape finds himself cast in a marriage of convenience with Hermione Granger of all people. Could it be just unfortunate circumstance or the beginning of something more?
Severus Snape has been in prison for the past six years, but it’s not what you think—life in Azkaban is never boring. And then Harry Potter starts visiting.

Time, space, magic and even fate, are all relative. When Severus Snape is thrust into a situation where he learns this very quickly, can he stay in control? Will he want to? Hermione’s life has sent her on one chaotic ride after another. What’s one more?
Ten-year-old Severus Snape finds by accident his mother’s old trunks from her Hogwarts years. With no lost love for his parents and with a wand, books and an isolated life, he spends his days studying, practicing charms and spells that can give him some comfort, changing the way he lives and enjoy his life… Watch him grow up into a different person, influence the people around him, change the future of the world, create a new era for potions studies, but still killing people with his snarky mouth.
Severus Snape is about to become one of the youngest professors ever taken on at Hogwarts, a position he takes with some reluctance. When she discovers a passion for making potions, she’ll use them to help her quiet, troubled friend-and make the acquaintance of a budding Death Eater.
Still reeling from the death of Dumbledore, Severus Snape becomes Headmaster of Hogwarts with the aim of protecting as many students as he can. Despised, rejected, worn down by a war that seems unlikely to end well, Snape will be confronted with a dilemma: face his task alone, or turn to the only person left who trusts him, former student Graihagh Corlett, in hiding from the Death Eaters, in need of help-and very good at getting on his nerves. Sequel to Vulnera Sanentur, but it’s not necessary to have read it.
A Slytherin has stolen Lily’s wand, and she has a plan for getting it back, with her former friend’s unwitting help. Everything goes wrong, and not in the ways Lily expects.
Complete! AU, diverges from canon after Snape tries to apologize to Lily. Regulus Black is nothing like his brother, and when he and Severus cross paths, nothing can stop them or come in their way. From Severus’s last two years in Hogwarts to the end of the First War, lots of Black family drama and Death Eater shenanigans!
The seasons change and with them a relationship which neither side can define. Fleeting encounters, enduring curses, surviving a war. After the Battle of Hogwarts, true allegiances come to light, and life is irrevocably altered. There is also the small matter of the Death Eater, soon to be released from Azkaban, who doesn’t know he’s a father.
Two months after the battle at the Department of Mysteries, and back on duty as an Auror, another clash with Death Eaters leaves Tonks in a bad way. She returns to Grimmauld Place, where secrets aren’t the only poison.
Days after the battle at the Department of Mysteries, Tonks finds her way back to Snape. The solstice sunrise missed, the aftermath of combat uncovered, they begin to feel the heat.
Andromeda and Narcissa think it’s high time Snape proposed to Tonks, so they scheme to give the couple a little alone time. With a weekend to themselves at the Malfoys’ Highland lodge while Teddy stays with his grandparents, Snape and Tonks find themselves surrounded by the past and possibilities.
Nymphadora Tonks is stationed in Hogsmeade. Severus Snape is the newly appointed DADA Professor. A few weeks into the school year and late one night in the corridors of Hogwarts, an Auror and a Professor run into each other. A diversion to the kitchens and a touch of Veritaserum creates a connection neither anticipated.
Instead of expiring in the Shrieking Shack, after losing consciousness, Snape woke up at an Aerosmith concert in Boston. In emotional freefall, Snape’s circumstances conspire to connect to mandated therapy treatment. This is the story of that treatment.
Severus finds himself alive, mute, without magic, and in pain. He sets out on a walking trip of discovery. Harry is also suffering in the aftermath of the war. Eventually, their paths will cross.
To live out her days as particles of light, unthinking and unfeeling, would be ideal. Light had no boundaries while humanity had ever so many. The war was over and she was free. Why, then, was she so miserable?
Luna Lovegood has the power to see Professor Severus Snape for who she truly is. The teacher and student form an unlikely friendship, as Luna tries to help Snape be more comfortable with herself.
Snape is tired of people treating him like a girl – he is a boy with he/him/his pronouns. Transition from female to male. His name in this fic is Severa and then Severus. Features a transph*bic Regulus.
All Eileen Snape wanted in life was to have a little family of her own who she would love and protect, and they in turn would do the same for her. Features female to male trans!Snape whose name is Septima at first
The darkest side of me by Cysteine – AO3. Complete in seven chapters (Lily Evans Potter & Severus Snape). Written also for trans Snape week.
Severus Snape knew from a young age that their family was different. Severus knew to suppress magic at home, and to suppress their gender identity at Hogwarts.
The entire Wizarding world believes Lily Potter was murdered by Voldemort on that fateful night in 1981. But there’s another side to Lily’s sacrifice, ancient charms and hidden truths that may have the power to change everything.
Severus Snape has never been the luckiest guy. This year seems to be no exception as Severus is entered into the Triwizard Tournament against his will, with no way out. With a push here and there, a little soul-searching, and maybe even the love of an old friend, this might just be the year his luck finally changes for the better.
Up at the teacher’s table, professor Quirrell was talking to a teacher with dirty red hair hanging around her sickly pale face like a curtain. Looking past Quirrell, two poison-green eyes, devoid of any warmth or empathy, found Harry’s own brown ones, and he felt a sharp pain on his scar. Harry looked again, but the teacher was no longer looking at him. Still, Harry could not escape the nagging feeling, which he had gotten just from a glimpse of her eyes and the cruel twist of her lips, that professor Evans did not like him very much.
It has been three days since she’s last heard from Sev. Three whole days without owls at her window. His home life isn’t the best, though he won’t talk about it. And out there, in the looming darkness, Voldemort’s power is growing. Destiny is nearly upon them. But through it all, Lily has always known what she’s wanted — who she’s wanted. But can best friends really become more? And is love enough, to leave the shadows behind?
Severus wakes up in the afterlife expecting something rather different than being almost-seventeen again. But wait – Lily’s come back, too – from 1981? Perhaps it’s a second chance… but for what?
Hermione Granger — Weasley — Granger has scars: the ones the war inflicted, and the ones she inflicted. Mostly the ones she inflicted. And Hermione Granger has some wounds that never did heal; here in the smouldering aftermath of her marriage, they’re about to start bleeding anew.
Snape must have a fetish for grading papers, given the amount of homework he assigns. Having said that, sorry, this is decidedly NOT what you’d imagine given that background info. Morally gray, graphic, a bit dubious at times, and complete in two parts.
A conversation between Severus and Eileen Snape, circa seventh year, taking place at the kitchen table. In imagining that scene, I asked myself, “What purpose would a table serve, if no meals are ever taken at it?”
It is Severus Snape’s birthday. Will it be a good day? Grooot wrote this gorgeous story for the LiveJournal 2019 Snapecase Fest, and MyWitch illustrated it.
Growing up with the Dursleys, Harry never had the chance to experience all that the Christmas season had to offer. It is never too late to create new memories with those we hold dear.
Headmaster Snape had had his eyes on the ultimate goal and no time to feel sorry for himself for a long time, this Hellish year being no exception. That was until the hatred in Minerva McGonagall’s eyes reminded him of all of his sins… nearly breaking him in the process. He just didn’t think the last straw would have been about a stupid Christmas Dinner.
Severus Snape was not at the first Order Christmas Party. He refused to even think about the second. Until it was upon him and no one would let him forget.
Snape’s brow sinks low over his eyes. “Why.”“Wh—?” Potter blinks twice then groans aloud. “What do you mean, ‘why?’” he says, snorting an incredulous laugh. “God’s sake, Snape, have you never got a gift before?”
Selected progress notes from Snape’s therapist after the end of the wizarding war. Co-Starring Leticia Rosenberg LICSW of Boston Institute for Family Therapeutics, with cameos from Frasier Crane
Hermione and Severus collect wild mushroom for potions-making, and have an important business conversation. Their discussion happens to be relevant to other matters of importance as well.
Nineteen-year-old Severus Snape is dangerously close to the edge. As the young professor struggles with depression, habits that he’d hoped to leave behind resurface, and he once again finds himself craving the solace of his blade. It’s up to his mentors, Albus and Minerva, to find him help before it’s too late.
Sirius had not been sure exactly of what he was going to find in Snape’s home after Harry had asked him to take the git to his Healer appointment at St. Mungo. What he found managed to shock him anyway.
It had all happened on Wednesday 3rd of September 1973; Minerva committed the date to memory. She would always be amazed that this discussion could happen in the first place. If the boy hadn’t been unconscious, would they even have learnt anything before it was too late?
After I finished reading DH, I thought, wow, I really want to read Snarry that takes into account Snape’s feelings for Lily. Something where Snape and Harry’s relationship is based on how Snape felt for her, instead of being its own separate entity. Of course, all I could find was a plethora of fics where Snape tells Harry his love for Lily was only platonic, and that he’s actually gay.
After I finished reading DH, I thought, wow, I really Epilogue to Reconciling Lily’s Eyes that might not make much sense if you haven’t read that fic but still has some nice NC-17 bits, nonetheless. Not quite the same tone, but there was just so much more to tell after I finished that fic, I thought, Why not??
When WWW decides to add Headmaster Snape to their Wizarding Heroes Action Figure line, Harry begins a correspondence with Snape’s cousin to iron out the details of the prototype. Albert Prince Jr. has some very specific ideas, and Harry soon finds himself counting buttons and measuring cauldron bottoms in a bid to get the action figure to market, and to find out a bit more about this mysterious cousin.
Severus Snape is not-quite-dead. He’s living under Polyjuice, watching more than participating in the Wizarding World. But when Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes adds Headmaster Severus Snape to its Wizarding Heroes Action Figures line, he very much wants to have a say in how he is portrayed to armies of grubby children manhandling his person. And to do this, he faces a battle of words with the Toy Master himself, Harry Potter.
The last thing Severus can remember is overhearing a prophecy in a dingy, goat-scented pub. Now there’s a James Potter clone with Lily’s eyes, a much aged Minerva McGonagall, and an infuriatingly familiar woman with wild hair all saying he is not a loyal Death Eater. Looking in a mirror proves that he is, indeed, suddenly pushing fifty. All in all, not his best day.
Harry is divorced, two-thirds of his children are at Hogwarts, and he’s ready to start dating again. Ideally, someone who has no idea who he is. Lily suggests he should try Tinder and Harry is not a coward.
This is the story of how Severus and Harry meet again after 20 years.
This story is AU. What would have happened if Voldemort had understood that defeat, not death, conferred mastery of the Elder Wand and did not kill Snape? And what of all the stray Death Eaters that JKR forgot to mention? Like Bella Lestrange’s husband?
As far as he was concerned, Potter could have whatever he wanted, now. What was the point of trying to tell him no if he was going to be sacrificed on the pyre of the greater good? If Potter wanted to learn, Severus would be his teacher. If he wanted a master, then Severus would make him submit. And if he wanted a lover… well. Severus would love him.

Snape must have a fetish for grading papers, given the amount of homework he assigns. Having said that, sorry, this is decidedly NOT what you’d imagine given that background info. Morally gray, graphic, a bit dubious at times, and complete in two parts.
